The mixed doubles badminton event at the 2011 Pan American Games will be held from October 15-20 at the Multipurpose Gymnasium in Guadalajara.[1] The defending Pan American Games champions are Eva Lee and Howard Bach of the United States, while the defending Pan American Championship champions are Toby Ng and Grace Gao of Canada. The mixed doubles will be the final badminton event to be completed at the Games.[1]

The athletes will be drawn into an elimination stage draw. Once a team loses a match it will no longer be able to compete. Each match is contested as the best of three games. A game is won when one side scores 21 points first. A point is awarded to the winning side of each rally. If the score becomes 20-all, the side which gains a two point lead first will win that game. If the score becomes 29-all, the side scoring the 30th point will win that game.[1]

The draw for the competition was done on October 7, 2011.[2]
